Motorcyclist flies off elevated roadway, dies

Police say a man is dead after an early morning crash in Metairie.

"Shortly after 3:00 a.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B were notified of a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle," Trooper Jacob Pucheu said.

It happened on the elevated portion of Clearview Parkway over the Earhart Expressway.

"The crash ultimately claimed the life of 27-year-old Cameron Blackwell of Belle Chasse."

Pucheu says Blackwell slammed into the guardrail and landed on the ground below.

"Blackwell, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, was pronounced dead on scene. Standard toxicology samples were collected from Blackwell and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation."
