Man murdered in Hammond, suspect arrested

A man faces murder charges after a Wednesday afternoon murder in Hammond.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 2:00pm.

"Johnathan Blackwell, 35, has been taken into custody for 2nd Degree Murder," Public Information Officer Ashley Rodrigue said in a news release.

She says that TPSO was called to a mobile home in the 41000 block of W I-55 Service Road in response to a shooting.

"When deputies arrived, a man was found dead inside.
Detectives quickly learned the shooting was the result of an argument between the deceased... and Blackwell."

The victim’s identity was not immediately available.
