Home burns in Irish Channel

Investigators are working to determine why a house burst into flames Wednesday night in New Orleans' Irish Channel.

"At 7:34 P.M. the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to 714 7th Street," Captain Quentin Brown said in a news release. "Upon arrival, companies were confronted with fire coming from the first and second-floor windows."

He says they called for additional help.

"A second alarm was requested for additional staffing."

Brown says firefighters were able to keep other nearby houses from being destroyed.

"The home was reportedly under construction and there were no reported injuries."
