The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says it has arrested a suspect in a homicide last week in the Lacombe area.

Detectives say 17-year-old Caleb Gasery shot and killed Jason Sumner the evening of October 9 in the 26000 block of East Jackson Street.

Deputies arrested Gasery on Tuesday and booked him into the St. Tammany Parish jail on one count of first degree murder.

"I want to thank the hard-working men and women of our Major Crimes Unit who have worked around the clock to identify and arrest the individual responsible for this crime," said St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith. "This arrest helps to bring some closure to the Sumner family and the Lacombe community."
