LSU’s Williams and Penn wearing number 7 and 18 this season

LSU football will have two players wearing number 7 and 18 this year.

The number seven jersey goes to LSU’s top playmaker. Offensive tackle Will Campbell will once again wear a number seven patch and linebacker Harold Perkins is changing his jersey number to seven.

24/7 Sports LSU reporter Glen West says Perkins had a strong preseason camp.

“He’s been hitting the run a little bit better.  He’s been all over the place making deflections and intercepting passes, and getting into the backfield getting tackles for loss,” said West.

Running back Josh Williams and linebacker Greg Penn will each wear 18, which goes to the player who is a great representative of LSU football on and off the field.

West says Williams arrived on LSU’s campus as a walk-on in 2019 and now he is a starter.

“Just a really great leader.  A guy that obviously Brian Kelly trust immensely.  This offense trust to be a big fixture on the offensive side of the ball,” he said.

West says Penn was one of the most productive players on LSU’s defense last year and he’s been a glue guy.

“I think has really kind of stepped up from a vocal stand point this year as being the “rah-rah” guy in that defensive room,” West said.
