ST. JOHNSBURY, VT. (WWLP) – New England had some of the best views of the solar eclipse, which drove hundreds of thousands of people to come for the cosmic event.

The town of St. Johnsbury had food trucks and vendors lining up the streets just in time to see the solar eclipse. While many from the Bay State made their way north, people like Ella Tamashasky came from well beyond New England to celebrate.

“Back in 2017 for the last eclipse, I was with my best friend in Maryland together and it wasn’t totality, but we watched it then and she was moving away in less than a week from the date of eclipse. So we promised that in seven years we get back together, this time we would get to totality and would watch it,” said Tamashasky. She travelled over eight hours from Poolesville, Maryland to meet up with her friend in Weston, Massachusetts, then another four hours to St. Johnsbury, Vermont.

St Johnsbury, Vermont, was about a three-hour drive from western Massachusetts and many did take the time to drive up there for the total eclipse!
