Oven fire in Deerfield serves as a reminder to clean kitchen appliances

DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Deerfield Fire District was called to an oven fire at a home on Friday night.

According to the Deerfield Fire District, crews were called to a house at 11:32 p.m. on Friday for alarms sounding. When crews arrived, they were informed by the Deerfield Police Department that there was heavy smoke from what appeared to be an oven or stove fire that was put out.

Fire crews were able to vent the smoke out of the building and checked for extension. Due to the use of a fire extinguisher, the fire was contained to just the oven. There is no word on the cause of the fire or if there were any injuries.

This fire serves as a reminder to clean your stove tops of all flammable materials, keep the inside of your oven clean, and have a fire extinguisher near where you are cooking.
