WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Westfield held the 15th annual bike ride on Wednesday, which typically attracts between 30 to 50 participants.

The bike ride gives residents the chance to get involved in physical activity and witness the work that’s been done in the city of Westfield, some projects being 15 years in the making.

Westfield Mayor Mike McCabe told 22News the benefits residents get from participating in this event, “It gives people an idea about what the rail trail is all about. It goes throughout the heart of the city and you can get on, you can get off, do your shopping, just go for a ride, stay healthy.”

Cyclists were greeted with free ice cream and sherbet at the end of the trail, courtesy of North Side Creamery.
