WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP)– Festivities for the much-anticipated Hooplandia 3-on-3 basketball tournament are just a few weeks away, with the event beginning Friday, June 21st.
Springfield is the birthplace of basketball, and for the 2nd year, just one town over at the Eastern States Exposition is a new event that is a basketball lover’s dream. Preparations are now underway for Hooplandia, the Northeast’s Ultimate 3×3 Basketball Tournament and Festival.
Scorekeepers needed for Springfield Hooplandia event “We’re trying to build something that really promotes our region, promotes the Basketball Hall of Fame, the game of basketball camaraderie, sportsmanship, fun,” said Gene Cassidy, President and CEO of the Eastern States Exposition.
The event will take place from June 21st through the 23rd, with a hooptacular kick-off Friday night and games being played throughout the weekend. Organizers expect over 2 thousand players of all ages to get involved in the action. From youth good to old guy bad, tall and short, every level you can imagine, so people are welcome to come and field a team.
The Festival will also feature a group of special guests, including- Springfield native Joseph Bunce-Grenon, also known as Joe the Jet, of the Harlem Wizards, Dynamic street artist, ARCY, Sneaker Queens Customs, DJ Meechie.
All of this fun for the largest 3×3 basketball event east of the Mississippi. Registration is open until June 14th, and every registrant gets a ticket to the Big E, a Dunkin’ gift card, and a VIP admission to the Basketball Hall of Fame.
