CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Mental Health Association held its grand opening celebration in Chicopee Tuesday afternoon.

The nonprofit organization now has a new spacious corporate office and the community has another place to go to get the services that they need.

City officials, MHA staff, and the community gathered at the new location on Memorial Drive to celebrate. People were able to tour the office and enjoy some refreshments for the grand opening day.

MHA has been serving the community with mental health programs and services for about 60 years. The Vice President of Development & Community Relations, Jen Ducharme, told 22News about the wide variety of services the nonprofit is able to offer those in need.

“We have been providing access to therapies for individuals with substance use disorder, mental health diagnosis, acquired brain injury, people who experience chronic homelessness, and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” Ducharme said.

Even during the transition to this new location Ducharme told 22News that they never stopped providing these essential services. She says MHA is still expanding its programs and that the organization operates more than 50 residential programs throughout western Massachusetts.
