HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The St. Patrick’s Committee of Holyoke announced its 72nd Grand Marshal Tuesday evening.

That high honor was given to James Lavelle of Holyoke. Lavelle, who is the General Manager of Holyoke Gas & Electric, is being recognized for his leadership and his dedicated service to the Holyoke community.

The Irish pride runs deep in Lavelle’s family. His father, “Bernie” led the Parade as Grand Marshal in 1988 and his daughter Grace, was a member of the Grand Colleen Court in 2016.

Lavelle told 22News, “It’s an honor to be associated with this group that does so much. The work this committee does year after year, producing a world-class parade, road race, and events get better each year. I am so thankful to be asked to be a part of it.”

The 72nd Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade is being held next year on Sunday, March 23.
