PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) – A morning accident on I-90 Eastbound led to a three-car collision and a fuel spill into the Quaboag River, though no injuries were reported.

According to state police, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. at the 66.6-mile marker when a tractor trailer struck the breakdown lane guardrail.

The impact triggered a chain-reaction crash involving two additional vehicles. Despite the severity of the crash, there were no reported injuries.

Brimfield Fire Department assisted at the scene, focusing their efforts on containing and removing fuel that had leaked from the damaged truck into the nearby Quaboag River. Emergency crews worked to mitigate the environmental impact of the spill and prevent further contamination of the river.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and assessing any potential long-term effects from the fuel spill. We will provide updates as soon as they become available.
