LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Hillcats will host Hunters for the Hungry night Thursday August 15 at Bank of the James Stadium. First pitch happens at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds from the game will go to fund deer processing fees incurred by Hunters for the Hungry.

“It’s all about raising awareness for our program, and also for raising money for our upcoming processing costs for the 2024 deer season,” said Hunters for the Hungry Associate Director Amy Clark.

This is the 12th year the Hillcats have hosted Hunters for the Hungry night at the park.

“Anything we can do to help raise funds, raise awareness, that’s a big point of the game,” said Hillcats Assistant General Manager Lincoln Evans. “We are offering discounts for ticketing; half off admission if you wear camo.”

The 11 previous Hunters for the Hungry nights raised more than $38-thousand. That translates to more than 111-thousand quarter pound portions that helped to feed needy families. Venison collected and processed by Hunters for the Hungry go to area food pantries. The group also recently canned more than 1,000 portions of shelf stable venison stew.
