AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Six Flags New England is set to redefine the family thrill experience with the introduction of its latest attraction, ‘Quantum Accelerator,’ slated to open in 2025.

The Quantum Accelerator, which will become the park’s 12th roller coaster, promises an immersive ride experience. Guests will board steampunk-themed hoverbike vehicles, leaning forward to grip handlebars as the ride launches them into a whirlwind of twists, turns, and ground-hugging curves. This thrilling experience is accentuated by a second mid-ride launch, propelling riders to speeds of up to 45 miles per hour.

The coaster’s design, featuring over 2,600 feet of track and 11 airtime moments, is set to a backdrop of mechanical wonders and Wild West-inspired landscapes, enhancing the steampunk adventure theme. This new addition aims to cater to thrill-seekers of all ages, offering a unique ride experience unlike any other in the region.

“Quantum Accelerator is an innovative addition that will redefine the family thrill ride experience at Six Flags New England,” said Pete Carmichael, park president. “With its dual-launch system and unique straddle seat design, this coaster is set to become a favorite for guests of all ages. It perfectly complements our extensive lineup of world-class rides and attractions, making Six Flags New England the ultimate destination for family fun and excitement in 2025. This has been a multi-year process where we’ve worked with our partners both here in the town we well as with the ride manufacturer and of course our very very hardworking team here.”

The park team predicts this new addition will bring more in more business, furthering Six Flags’ impact on the region’s economy.

Earlier this year, a new study out of the Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau showed that tourism in Western Massachusetts has had a 1 point 3-billion-dollar economic impact on the region. 872 million dollars was spent in western Massachusetts in 2022, at places like the Big E, MGM Springfield, and Six Flags. That generated 136 million dollars in tax revenue.

“We’re expecting this ride to draw people from all over the country, not just New England,” said Six Flags Marketing and PR Manager Ray Sciarretta. “Because it’s such an exciting addition to our park, we think that it’ll bring people from all over the place, especially people who are those coaster enthusiasts.”

In anticipation of the Quantum Accelerator’s debut, Six Flags New England is launching its Biggest Sale of the Year, offering up to 70% off admission, Season Passes, and more through September 2, 2024. Guests purchasing a 2025 Season Pass now will enjoy unlimited visits to Six Flags New England throughout the remainder of 2024 and the entire 2025 season, including access to events such as Oktoberfest, Fright Fest, and Kids Boo Fest.

Quantum Accelerator is poised to become a landmark attraction at Six Flags New England, enhancing the park’s reputation as a premier destination for amusement and adventure.
