Mass. (WWLP) – Hurricane Ernesto has made its way to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. With winds reaching over 80 miles an hour. The 22news Storm Team has a look at where Ernesto will go and if we could see any local impacts.

Hurricane Ernesto continues to move north and is expected to strengthen to a Category 3 hurricane with winds of 115 mph by Friday. Ernesto will then impact the island of Bermuda this weekend before moving into the north Atlantic and staying offshore. While Hurricane Ernesto will stay out to sea, there could be some minor impacts along the East Coast such as high waves and strong rip currents and maybe some breezy conditions on Cape Cod. Besides that, we look to have no impacts here in western Massachusetts.
