SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The start of school is just around the corner and some students are moving back in at Springfield College.

Fall student athletes began their return to Springfield College, and while the football team has already been on campus, other teams like field hockey, volleyball and soccer moved in on Friday.

With practices for many teams starting on Saturday, and excitement of the first games of the season following shortly in just two weeks, as well as classes on the horizon, many athletes are just happy to be back on campus.

“Just being back here. Like, last year I had a lot of fun and obviously being a freshman was nerve-racking, but the team and all of the people I met made it a lot easier to transition into a place I’ve never been, so just happy to be back here,” expressed Springfield College Field Hockey player, Kristyn Vasselin.

It seemed like a great day for move-in as it was overcast and not too hot outside. The rest of Springfield College students move in August 30th through September 2nd with classes starting on the 3rd.

A few student-athletes gave tips for first-year students moving in, and the biggest two were: to be open-minded to meeting new people and to call your mom and dad all of the time. Remember parents will appreciate hearing from their collegiate sons and daughters too.
