According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, at approximately 9:45 p.m., officers were called for a report of a vehicle crashing into the McDonald’s on Boston Road. An investigation revealed that a man was driving fast without his lights on.

The driver clipped a vehicle that was pulling out of a parking lot on the 700 block of Boston Road. The vehicle that caused the crash then hit a fire hydrant and curb. The vehicle started to roll over through another parking lot on Boston Road, hitting two parked vehicles in a parking lot before crashing into the McDonald’s.

The driver was taken to Baystate Medical Center for his injuries and is expected to recover. Police say that he will be cited. Another person was also hurt and taken to a hospital.

Regina Martin from Springfield says it’s not the first time she’s seen something like this. She recalled, “Orange Street in Springfield there was a Jamaican restaurant and a car was in it and it still has not recovered, that was five months ago maybe six months ago.”

The McDonald’s is expected to open Monday. The Springfield Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
