Vandalism at the Cathedral of Life Church in Ludlow

LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – An elderly homeless veteran man in his 60s vandalized the Cathedral of Life Church in Ludlow on Tuesday morning.

“I do not want people to take this lightly or make light of it because it is very alarming,” said Pastor Ivan Cutts,” with the Cathedral of Life Church.

Pastor Cutts said a man came and sat on the steps of the church. He then stood up, took out a knife, and started stabbing the doors of the church. State Senator Jake Oliveira told 22News that acts of violence have no place in the town of Ludlow. “We are ensuring that houses of worship are safe and secure and free from acts of vandalism and acts of violence. That is the top priority and we want to ensure that everyone can worship their faith in a safe manner,” said Oliveira.

According to Ludlow Police Chief Daniel Valadas, police are looking to find the suspect. “We have a warrant for his arrest and we will take him to court, get him the services he needs. We have investigated this fully so it does not look like a crime of hate or hate crime involved. It is vandalism it is a felony and we will pursue it as such,” said Valadas.
