SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Pioneer Valley Transportation Authority is making improvements for its riders.

The PVTA is now making it easy for riders to see reliable real-time information about their transit. This improvement will increase the accuracy of passenger information by up to 50 percent. They also said this new information will make their transit system easier to use and rely on.

The PVTA is working with Swiftly, Inc., a transit data provider, using modern technology to connect their riders with real-time updates. Any riders can now access up-to-date bus arrival and location information by calling or texting the PVTA at 413-339-3117. All you need to supply is the bus stop number.

They are also using other apps like Transit, Google Maps, and Apple Maps to update their arrival times and bus locations.

“We are excited for this opportunity to enhance the real-time arrival information we provide our passengers,” said Brandy Pelletier, PVTA’s Manager of Marketing, Advertising, and Public Relations. “This improvement to real-time information will make our transit system easier to use and improve the information our passengers rely on”.

“We’re proud to have the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority using our transit data platform to improve real-time information for their riders,” says Jonny Simkin, CEO and co-founder at Swiftly. “Accurate, accessible transit data is at the heart of the rider experience. Our work with PVTA will improve reliability for all transit riders in the Pioneer Valley”.

How about fixing all the broken Gate numbers and routes, or the screens with the schedule of busses, or maybe the overhead heaters this winter? Apparently you have money to burn as everyone enjoyed 3 months of no fares! 🤷‍♀️
