Deadly motorcycle crash on Mass. Pike in West Springfield

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A deadly motorcycle crash closed Exit 45 on the Mass. Pike in West Springfield for nearly three hours Friday morning.

According to Massachusetts State Police Spokesperson Tim McGuirk, troopers were called to the eastbound side of I-90 at the Exit 45 off-ramp in West Springfield for what preliminary information indicates that this is a deadly motorcycle crash.

At around 7 a.m., the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) said the exit was closed. MassDOT Spokesperson John Goggin told 22News the exit was expected to be closed for several hours. The exit has since reopened as of 10 a.m.

Members of the Hampden Detective Unit, Crime Scene Services Section, and the Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit (CARS) are investigating.
