A look at the wet and humid summer conditions in western Massachusetts

Mass. (WWLP) – This summer has been hot and humid over the past few weeks fairly wet. The 22News Storm Team is Working for You with a look at the drought monitor and how wet the summer has been on the whole.

We currently have no drought problems across western Massachusetts with the closest dry spot being southeast New Hampshire. So far this month, we have seen 2.82 inches of rain at Westover Airbase in Chicopee. The average rainfall for August is 4 inches.

In terms of rainfall totals for the entire year, we have seen 33.61 inches of rain. The average yearly rainfall is 44.4 inches. We do expect a few more chances of rain for the last week of August so we will likely get closer to the monthly average of 4 inches before August is over.
