Two arrested after drugs, cash seized during traffic stop in North Adams

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) – Two people were arrested on Thursday after a traffic stop in North Adams.

According to the North Adams Police Department, on August 22nd, officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction, however, the vehicle did not pull over. The vehicle continued driving for a short amount of time before stopping for the officers.

During the traffic stop, the officers learned that the driver had a suspended license and was taken into custody. Officers had probable cause to search the vehicle and seized 36.6 grams of cocaine/crack cocaine, digital scales, packaging material for distribution, and $2,088.

The driver and the passenger were both arrested. The man who was driving was held on a $25,000 cash bail and the woman passenger was held on a $100,000 cash bail. They were both charged with the following:

• Fail to Stop at Stop Sign (operator)
• Failure to Stop for Police (operator)
• Operating After License Suspension, Subsequent Offense (operator)
• Trafficking Cocaine (36-100 Grams)
• Conspiracy
