Weather this week as students head back to school

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – This week starts with the chance for storms and higher humidity however, the end of the week looks to bring some comfortable weather.

Showers and storms are in the forecast for Monday but there should be some relief from the warm temperatures and humidity later in the week. Currently, over the eastern half of the country, there is a ridge in the jet stream allowing for above-average temperatures and more humidity.

During the middle of the week, temperatures will reach around 90 degrees with high humidity and the chance of storms associated with a cold front on Wednesday. As this ridge in the jet stream pushes east, a trough which is a dip in the jet stream will settle over New England for the end of the week.

Expect temperatures in the 70s for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with lower humidity. September is on Sunday which is the official start of meteorological fall.
