    Fawn rescued from spillway at Chicopee State Park

    CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Crews were called to Chicopee State Park on Monday to assist in the rescue of a young deer trapped in the park’s spillway.

    The operation, which involved members of local rescue teams and a biologist from the Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, resulted in the safe release of the animal.

    Rescue personnel worked alongside the biologist to carefully free the young deer from the spillway. After being freed, the deer was assessed for injuries, tagged for tracking, and safely released back into the wild.
