    Chautauqua Co. man pleads guilty to drug charges related to two raids

    ( WJET/WFXP )– A Chautauqua County man is facing up to life behind bars after initially being arrested more than a year ago following a search warrant being served on his house and cars then another earlier this spring.

    Celeron, NY resident Darin L. Butts, Jr., 31, pleaded guilty in federal court to possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

    Prosecutors said police found about 610 grams of meth, some packed in smaller bags, drug paraphernalia, and approximately $14,829.00 in cash from alleged drug sales in his home and two vehicles when they served a search warrant back on Aug. 23, 2023.

    Police also said they conducted seven controlled purchases from Butts leading up to the search warrant being executed.

    A second search warrant served on May 3 allegedly uncovered multiple quantities of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia.

    Jamestown Police, the DEA, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Ellicott Police and Dunkirk Police were all involved in the investigation into Butts and his alleged opperation.

    If convicted, Butts faces between 10 years and life in prison along with a $10,000,000 fine.
