SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) is preparing for a possible strike among drivers.

Springfield City Council has approved a special permit for a Tesla dealership in the East Springfield neighborhood

The PVTA said they were alerted by their management company, DGR, that the ATU Local 448 took a strike vote at their meeting.

The vote does not necessarily mean the union will go on strike, but members have empowered leadership to do so. DGR Management and Local 448 have been in contract negotiations since March 2024. A best and final offer was sent to the union on August 7th.

The PVTA said they are hopeful both sides will reach an agreement without significant interruptions in service.
