SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Polling stations are open across the state until the end of the week for early voting in the state’s primary.

Locally, there are contested Democratic primaries in three legislative races. There’s a contested primary for the Hampden District in the State Senate in the 11th Hampden District in the State House and the 3rd Berkshire District of the State House.

Springfield resident Nathaniel Heywood told 22News why he’s choosing to vote early, “It’s very easy for me I don’t know about anybody else. That’s what I want to do and that’s what I’m doing. Everybody should vote because you have the right to vote.”

“Tomorrow’s a good day to come so anybody who’s working and can’t come during the business day we’re going to be open till 6 p.m. here at City Hall. Thursdays are our late day and then on Friday it’s 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.,” said Springfield Election Commissioner Gladys Oyola-Lopez.

For those who are not planning to head to the polls on election day don’t forget you have to return your ballots by 8 p.m. If you are unsure about where your designated polling location is
you can call your local city or town hall for those details.
