LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – It was a celebration of Portuguese culture in Ludlow this Thursday evening as a festa returns for another year.

Labor Day weekend events in western Mass.

In its 76th year, dozens came out to celebrate the cultural roots of Portugal at Our Lady of Fatima Parish on Winsor Street. This Labor Day tradition is the biggest fundraising event for the church. It’s a time for music, food, and cultural celebration, all while supporting a good cause. 22News spoke to those in attendance about what they love most about the big celebration.

“I think just the community, seeing friends and people I haven’t seen in a while just brings everybody together,” said Hannah Worpek of Ludlow.

“ Mostly the food and rides too ,” added Marissa Fontaine of Ludlow.

The celebrations continue through the Labor Day weekend with a candle-lit procession to follow the religious service on Sunday.
