CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – What was predicted to be the busiest day of Labor Day weekend travel is underway.

MassDOT, MBTA, and MassPORT are advising holiday travelers to make informed decisions and plan for their trips. They say, to consider driving during off-peak hours or using public transportation if possible to reach your destinations.

AAA says drivers should hit the road early in the morning except for Saturday when the best time to travel is in the afternoon.  Boston is listed as one of the top domestic travel destinations, so if you are flying in or out of Logan International Airport, allow for extra time to get to the airport and through security.

TSA recommends arriving at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight, packing light, and keeping essential belongings in carry-on luggage. Check luggage and check into your flight on mobile apps if you are able..and have your ID or passport out and ready when you get to the desk.

If you plan on flying out of Boston, download the flylogan app to access information about the airport, flight status, and other services.
