Four injured after Shrewsbury police cruiser crashes into Subaru

SHREWSBURY, Mass. (WWLP) – A Shrewsbury Police cruiser was involved in a crash on Route 9 late Saturday night.

According to the Shrewsbury Police Department, at 12:55 p.m. on Friday, two officers were on Oak Street Northbound crossing the Route 9 intersection heading to another incident with their lights and sirens on.

A gray 2020 Subaru Outback was traveling Route 9 Westbound, and the two vehicles collided on the Westbound side of Route 9. The cruiser rolled over onto its roof and both officers were taken to UMass Hospital for their injuries. There were three people inside the Subaru and two were taken to UMass Hospital as well for their injuries.

The crash is being investigated by the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (CEMLEC) crash reconstruction team.
