SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Massachusetts voters cast their ballots in the state primary election on Tuesday.

The importance of casting your ballot in the Massachusetts State Primary

Voters headed to the polls all across the Commonwealth and the results are in. Republican and Pro-Cryptocurrency Attorney, John Deaton, secured the GOP Senate seat with 64.62% of votes, and he will challenge Senator Elizabeth Warren, who has held her position since 2013, in the November general election.

Political Consultant Evan Garber told 22News what may be key to Deaton’s race.

“Now, the campaign starts for him. Now until November, he’s really gotta mobilize, try, if he could take out Senator Warren, who has a massive campaign war chest, and is fairly well-liked in Massachusetts,” said Garber.

Incumbent Senator Adam Gomez took the Massachusetts Senate seat for the Hampden District in the Democratic party, securing 70.59% of the votes over Malo Brown.

For the State House of Representatives, in what ended up being the closest race, the 11th Hampden District seat, incumbent state Representative Bud Williams came out victorious over Johnnie McKnight, garnering 53.70% of votes, while McKnight was not far behind with 46.30%.
No Republican candidate is running against.

For Massachusetts House third Berkshire district. This seat has long been held by Lenox State Representative “Smitty” Pignatelli, who did not run for re-election. Wednesday morning, Great Barrington Select Board Vice Chair Leigh Davis beat out Patrick White and Jamie Minacci for the State House. Davis will now face independent candidate Marybeth Mitts in the general election.

Ahead of the November general election, make sure you have a plan to vote, whether its by mail or in person at the polls.
