What questions will be on your November ballot?

BOSTON (WWLP) – Now that the Massachusetts state primary has come and gone, voters are turning their attention back to the five ballot questions to consider in November.

The five questions Massachusetts voters have to consider are submitted by voters and organizations and go through a petition and certification process.

Question 1, which would allow State Auditor Diana DiZoglio to examine the finances of the state legislature, is under scrutiny from lawmakers who say the executive and legislative branches should be kept separate.

Perhaps the most vocally supported–and opposed–ballot question deals with removing MCAS standardized testing as a high school graduation requirement.

“We have a moral responsibility to educate all children, and there is a certain learning profile every single year that is being harmed,” said Deb McCarthy, Vice President of the Massachusetts Teachers Association.

Governor Healey has voiced her disapproval for getting rid of the MCAS in the past, but ultimately it’s up to the voters.

The third question asks whether Uber and Lyft drivers should be allowed to unionize. Advocates say it is essential to ensure fair treatment by rideshare apps.

Question 4 would legalize and regulate some natural psychedelic substances including magic mushrooms.

The final question looks to raise the minimum wage for tipped workers, which has garnered support from many employees and opposition from many restaurants who worry about the impact this could have to their bottom line.
