    PetSmart in Westfield to hold grand opening

    WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A grand opening celebration is being held at the new PetSmart in Westfield on Saturday.

    The new store spans more than 20,000 square feet and is located at 273B E. Main Street in Westfield. They offer food, supplies, and accessories for cats, dogs, fish, birds, reptiles, and small pets. The store also has a full-service grooming salon for cats and dogs.

    Dakin discounting adoption fees this weekend

    Pet adoptions will be available through PetSmart charities and local animal welfare organizations.

    Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, customers will receive a free, pre-packaged goodie bag filled with items such as a $10 PetSmart gift card, pet bandana, pet toys and coupons, while supplies last.

    PetSmart is located between Ocean State Job Lot and Five Below. The Westgate Plaza also includes GNC, T-Mobile, Great Clips, Rent-A-Center, Bee-Shine Spa, T.J. Maxx, ALDI, and Taco Bell.

    Freebies were for the first 150 people. Many lined up outside before the store opened and the freebies went quick and then that was it. No more giveaways. I saw no animal adoptions or similar. People were asking staff and the response was to visit a local animal shelter. Checkout was slow even with three registers open. Some items were borderline out of stock. I saw nobody stocking shelves.
