Springfield Puerto Rican Parade kicks off Sunday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – In a week, the Springfield Puerto Rican Parade will take center stage.

This year marks the 34th annual parade, and this year’s theme is Magia Boriqua.

Organizers say every year is electric when people come out for the food, music, dancing, and parade.

“Last year, I feel that one of the things that resonated with me was this electricity that people can almost feel the day of the parade,” said Sasha Viands, the Board President for the Springfield Puerto Rican Parade.

The event will go on rain or shine. People are encouraged to park at the 3601 and 3455 lots on Main Street in Springfield. There will be free parking for those who attend as long as it is in a designated area.

UMass and White Lion Brewery will be hosting a block party from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a special performance from Madison Curbelo.
