HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – On Monday, veterans will have the chance to connect with resources at a free event at the Hadley Senior Center.

New historic signs unveiled across Hadley

According to the Central Hampshire Veteran Services, the host of the event, organizers will be available from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to explain the benefits and services that elderly veterans and their family members might be entitled to receive. This event will also address issues such as increased health risks and financial challenges related to long-term geriatric care.

Some of the other topics that will be discussed include:

    • Geriatric programs at the local, state, and federal levels
    • Caregiver support
    • Elder legal assistance
    • End-of-life care
    • Burial benefits
    • ChampVA
    • Holyoke Veterans Home
    • Aid & Attendance

Over 4,000 veterans 65 years old and over live in Hampshire County, who served in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf, and even in the Post 9/11 era in locations like Iraq and Afghanistan.

“Elderly veterans may be eligible for a wide variety of benefits,” said Steve Connor, director of the Central Hampshire Veterans’ Services District. “More and more senior veterans are seeking our help, and we must provide them with the information they need to make the right decisions regarding their health and well-being.”
