EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Residents are already making their way to their local farms to rack up some apples.

Anthony Maloni with the Apple Place in East Longmeadow says people have been in and out of the orchard to get apples. September is known as one of the best times to go and pick those apples.

Apples are normally harvested between late summer and late October depending on the type of apple. They can all ripen at different times due to the weather.

Maloni says these are the apples that are in season now, “We have some of the heirloom and more traditional varieties people are more familiar with like macintosh, honeycrisp, ruby max, on the stand and coming hopefully this week we will have Macoun and empires.”

Next is pumpkin season, as it gets closer to October.
