The latest mural unveiling in Springfield is encouraging student creativity and community.

Each art piece was carefully drawn by a Springfield student and then brought to life by local artists. Superintendent of Springfield Public Schools Dr. Sonia Dinnell told 22News, “This is by far one of the most beautiful representations of the goals, dreams, and aspirations of our students in our city.”

“It’s such a beautiful culmination of our young people, having the courage and the talent to share out their art,” says Eileen McCaffrey, Executive Director for the Community Music School of Springfield.

It’s all part of a collaborative passion project of local creative organizations and Springfield Public Schools. To showcase the creative vision of students throughout the city of Springfield through art— giving them a voice.

McCaffrey adds, “This Intersection of the arts and public health and young people being lifted up is all part of the big idea, and literally the big mural behind us today.”

Monday’s unveiling celebrates the creativity and passion students bring to the classroom every day. With 4 more murals set to be unveiled around the city by June of next year. “The community-based aspect of it I think is what drew me to it and is what keeps me energized by this work and the incredible team I get to work with,” says Giselle, the artist.
