AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – A new electricity program is coming to the town of Amherst this November.

At the town’s council meeting Monday evening, Director of Sustainability Stephanie Ciccarello shared with residents the benefits of having their town supplier with a new program known as Valley Green Energy.

Amherst Council said customers should look forward to consistent pricing and being able to select different plans of renewable energy all contributing to the environment.

“We were able to choose a supplier that would provide us a greener electricity content to our electricity supply at a reduced rate from currently Eversource’s basic rate,” Ciccarello said.

An information session will be held at Bangs Community Center in Amherst on September 10th.
