AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – A new electricity program is coming to the town of Amherst this November.

At the town’s council meeting Monday evening, the director of sustainability shared with residents the benefits of having their town supplier.

The new program known as Valley Green Energy, is a partner of Eversource.

Customers will recognize a new name on their electric bills starting in December addressed as ‘First-Point Valley Green Energy AMH.’ Amherst Council said customers should look forward to consistent pricing and being able to select different plans of renewable energy all contributing to the environment.

“We were able to choose a supplier that would provide us a greener electricity content to our electricity supply at a reduced rate from currently Eversource’s basic rate,” shared Stephanie Ciccarello, Director of Sustainability, Amherst.

Amherst will power their town through Valley Green Energy through November 2026. All electric bills will continue to come from Eversource and bill payments will still be made to them.
