Chief Dodge has been acting chief since February, after the abrupt retirement of former Chief Robert Haigh. He retired shortly after a former officer filed a discrimination lawsuit in Greenfield.

In August, Greenfield Mayor Virginia Desorgher swore Dodge in. Dodge is a Greenfield native and has spent his career with the Greenfield Police Department (GPD) beginning in 1998 as a reserve officer. Throughout his time with GPD Dodge has served as a detective, motorcycle patrol officer, field training officer, bicycle patrol, special response team, sergeant, corporal, and logistics lieutenant.

The formal ceremony is taking place at 5:30 p.m. at the John Zon Community Center.
