EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – In East Longmeadow Wednesday night, the Lions Club presented their 2024 ‘Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award.’

Paul Federici, an East Longmeadow resident and accountant took home the award for his dedication to community service. He’s volunteered for Make A Wish Western Mass, East Longmeadow Rotary Club, and the town’s parade committee.

He’s also served as the former president of the East Longmeadow Select Board and been the town council’s past vice chairman. 22News spoke with Federici about the importance of giving back to the community.

“If things are going in your direction if you will or things are going well for you if you can give back and help people, then maybe get someone not on that same path, get them going off in the right direction, and help them out and it makes you feel good and does something positive,” said Federici.

And as president of the Daniel Federici Memorial Foundation, established in memory of his son, he’s raised more than $10,000 in scholarships this year for deserving East Longmeadow high school students. All the funds raised were done through a golf tournament earlier this summer.
