    Sons of Erin in Westfield honors three victims lost in the 9/11 tragedy

    WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Sons of Erin in Westfield honored three victims lost in the 9/11 tragedy. All three residents once called Westfield home.

    On this day, 23 years ago, Westfield lost 3 beloved people from its community. “Jimmy Shay’s daughter, she is a nice, nice girl, I knew her, when she was working at a variety store in our neighborhood,” said Joe Healy of Westfield.

    All three victims of 911 had ties to the Son of Erin in Westfield. Tara Creamer, Dan Trant, and Brian Murphy. Their families were involved in the Irish community, “and I don’t know them, but I knew their parents,” said Bill Hoarle of Westfield.

    “It’s nice to come out here and keep their memory alive for all the families who had to suffer,” added Diane Lions of Westfield.

    A memorial in Westfield for the three who lost their lives, is aimed at never forgetting their roots. The mayor of Westfield also honored the life of another life lost too soon, who has connections to the city.

    “And the most recent addition, the Holohan family. Who ugh Thomas Holohan responded to the tower,” said Westfield mayor, Michael McCabe.

    Thomas Holohan, a former firefighter with engine 6 lost his life on September 11, 2001. A tradition to honor and never forget the lives of those taken and remember those who once called Westfield their home.
