    Holyoke crews put out garage fire on Taylor Street

    HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – A garage fire on Thursday afternoon was brought under control by Holyoke firefighters, preventing significant damage to a nearby home.

    According to Holyoke Fire Captain David Rex, the department received a report of a detached garage fire at 4:20 p.m. While units were en route, an update indicated that the fire was beginning to impinge on the adjacent house.

    Upon arrival, crews acted quickly to extinguish the fire, knocking down the bulk of the flames before the fire could spread to the home. The house only sustained minor cosmetic damage. No injuries were reported, and the family residing in the home was not displaced.

    The cause of the fire remains under investigation and we will provide updates as soon as new information becomes available.
