Marijuana seized after traffic stop on Route 9 in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG, Mass. (WWLP) – A Springfield man faces drug charges after more than five pounds of marijuana was seized during a traffic stop on Route 9 in Williamsburg.

According to the Williamsburg Police Department, last week officers were on patrol conducting speed enforcement on Route 9 when a vehicle was observed allegedly speeding. A traffic stop was conducted and during the interaction, police say that there were several indicators of suspected drug activity.

With the assistance of Easthampton Police Sgt. Beaulieu and K9 Gino, more than five pounds of marijuana and some cocaine were located inside the vehicle.

The 34-year-old man from Springfield was arrested and charged with the following:

• Possession to Distribute Class D Drug (marijuana)
• Possession of a Class B Drug (cocaine)
• Open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle
• Speeding
