LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – The Chabad Women’s Circle of Greater Springfield creates a safe space for women to connect and now they are coming together to bake a new year tradition, bringing hope into this new season.

The Paramount Theater has been sold to an unidentified buyer

“It’s a difficult time for the Jewish people as we are about to mark one year anniversary of the terrible assault in Israel on October 7th,” shared Esther Kosofsky, Co-Director of Chabad Women’s Circle.

Each year Rosh Hashanah gathers family and friends. With the help of the Chabad Women’s Circle of Greater Springfield, women are getting ready for the new year celebration.

“An opportunity for women to get together, have fun with each other, learn a little bit something about the holiday they might have not known, and make a challah for the holiday together.” shared Esther Kosofsky, Co-Director of Chabad Women’s Circle.

Women support women, making challah bread as they reflect on all that has happened this year, not only in their community but worldwide.

“We never ever had a policeman at the door of a synagogue, at the door of a school, at the door of a Jewish delicatessen on the way home from school,” said Fran Grosnick.

Some are thankful for the opportunity to have a space to come together as the Israel-Hamas war nears its one-year mark on October 7th, with many keeping loved ones in prayer this Rosh Hashanah.

“Many have connections in Israel, my sister’s there, I’m from Israel, I have grandchildren there and everybody has a connection,” shared Fran Grosnick.

As the U.S. and other allies encourage Israel to reach a cease-fire as the war intensifies, the women at the Mega Challah Bake are thankful for their support system during this painful time in their lives.
