    Driver struck fire hydrant in Springfield

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A portion of Tremont Street in Springfield was closed after a car struck a fire hydrant early Friday morning.

    According to the Springfield Fire Department, at around 5:30 a.m. crews were working to clear the area of 134 Tremont Street when a driver of a Mercedes vehicle drove into a fire hydrant. The street was reduced to one lane.
