Mass. (WWLP) – Up until Thursday, this September has been a very dry month.

We’re finally getting some much-needed rain after what has been a very dry stretch of weather for us here in western Massachusetts. Until Thursday we hadn’t seen any measurable rainfall since the beginning of the month.

When will fall foliage peak in western Massachusetts

Some lawns have been turning yellow and brown and river levels have been getting pretty low. For September we’ve only picked up a little more than 3 tenths of an inch of rain, not counting what fell Thursday. According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor, that just came out, all of western Massachusetts is now in the abnormally dry category. It does not take into consideration the rain we’re getting right now.

After Thursday it looks like the dry weather will be returning for the weekend.
