Together, Kiwanis clubs from Western Massachusetts and Enfield, Connecticut packaged 10,000 ready-to-make meals to be distributed throughout the clubs in combined areas.

“We hope that this is just the first of an annual event,” said Organizer Daniele Sturmer. “Service projects like this demonstrate what Kiwanis is all about. It makes us proud to know we
will be assisting members of our local communities who struggle with food insecurity.”

“Food sustainability in Western MA is a huge need and we hope this provides some much
needed relief to our communities,” said Organizer Heidi Leonard.

“The 46 boxes that we just developed, had 36 packages in each, that feeds 6 family members each package,” added Sturmer. “We are giving out to the Westfield Food Pantry, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, every school in the Westfield Public School District. The different clubs that came from different areas, they’re each taking a box back for their food pantry, or rescue mission, or whatever.”

The Westfield Kiwanis Club works to make the community and better and safer place for kids. They encourage anyone interested in joining to visit their website for a list of meeting times and upcoming events.
