SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – The room in City Hall was filled with joy as the three new sergeants were officially pinned by members of their families.

Sergeant Daniel Regan has been on the force for 7 years, Sergeant Michael O’Shea has been an officer for 30 years and Sergeant Colin Cochrane joined the force 8 years ago.

You may recognize the name Cochrane as Colin’s father, William Cochrane, is a retired Springfield Deputy Chief and he had the honor of pinning his son.

“It means everything, this is such an honor. It is an honor to be pinned by my father. I look up to my father, he is my role model and just happy he was here to pin me” said Sergeant Colin Cochrane.

Springfield Police Superintendent Lawrence Akers said these three new sergeants bring unique perspectives to the Uniform Divison and he is looking for them to be leaders for their fellow officers.

The promotions will take effect on Sunday October 6th.
