SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield’s Indian Orchard neighborhood is coming together this weekend for its 8th annual Food Truck Festival.

Since its inception eight years ago, the Indian Orchard food truck festival has grown in size and scope, with more residents participating year after year.

State Representative Orlando Ramos put this event together along with City Councilor Zaida Govan in an effort to create a space for the community to share a meal together and support local businesses.

Most of these food trucks are scattered through the community so this festival brings them all into the same space for people to enjoy.

“You listen to my music I listen to your music we can get to know each other and get to eat each other’s food so getting to know our neighbors is very important,” said Councilor Govan. “It doesn’t matter if those neighbors come from Northampton, Ludlow, Wilbraham, or right here in Indian Orchard, we should all get to know each other and that’s why we do this.”

Folks can gather to enjoy live music, food trucks, vendors, kid’s activities, and more.

The festival runs from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on October 12th at 117 Main Street, across from Myrtle Street Park. The event is free and open to the public.
